V4 analyzes histogram, channel balance and shadow/highlight clipping, then applies a much stronger correction. Auto + Polish goes further with contrast S-curve, background blur, skin fairness and sharpen.
HSL & Background Blur
Eight color bands (Red → Magenta) each with Hue / Saturation / Luminance sliders. Background blur uses a radial mask — subject stays sharp, surroundings blur smoothly.
Skin tone & Fair skin
Detects skin-hue pixels and lifts lightness with warm protection. Works well on portraits, group photos and passport shots without blowing out other colors.
Presets & target size
Copy the full adjustment set as JSON, save named presets, or paste them on your next photo. Export at a target KB (e.g. 50 KB passport, 200 KB web) — the tool auto-adjusts quality and, if needed, resolution.
Frequently asked questions
Why does Auto look much stronger now?
V4 stretches the histogram from the 0.2% to 99.8% percentiles (instead of 0.5%/99.5%), lifts exposure on dark images, adds tint correction and boosts vibrance. Auto + Polish adds a deeper S-curve, background blur, fairness and sharpen for a social-ready look.
What does HSL do?
It lets you change Hue, Saturation and Luminance of specific colors only — for example, make the sky bluer without changing skin tones, or brighten only the greens in a forest. Eight bands: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Aqua, Blue, Purple, Magenta.
How does background blur work without AI?
It applies a radial mask: the center of the image stays sharp, the outer region is blurred and slightly darkened. Works great on portraits, group photos and product shots. Move the crop so the subject sits in the center for best results.
Can I really hit a target KB size?
Yes. Enable "Compress to a specific size", pick a target, and the tool iterates JPEG quality. If quality bottoms out, it scales the resolution down too. 50 KB is possible for a passport-size photo.
How do presets work?
Click Copy settings — a JSON bundle of all your adjustments goes to the clipboard. Open another photo, click Paste settings, done. Or save as a named preset which appears in "My saved presets".
Does it support DSLR RAW files like .CR2?
Yes — Canon .CR2/.CR3, Nikon .NEF, Sony .ARW, Olympus .ORF, Panasonic .RW2, Pentax .PEF, Adobe .DNG, Samsung .SRW, Leica .RWL, Fujifilm .RAF load their embedded full-resolution JPEG preview. The extractor tries every candidate and returns the first that decodes. For true raw development use Canon DPP / Lightroom / darktable.
